Failure becomes damaging when it moves from something you did to something you are. 'I failed at that' is workable. 'I am a failure' is paralysing, and it usually leads to hiding.
Part 01
The lesson
Treat a failure like a review: what actually happened, what part was mine, what would I do differently, who do I need to make this right with, and what is the very next step? Then move. Extended self-punishment feels like accountability but produces nothing.
Reflection
Questions to sit with

- 02What do you do when nobody is watching?
- 03Can people depend on your word?
Put it into practice
Action points
- 01For seven days, write down every commitment you make out loud, and mark each one kept or broken. Read the list at the end of the week without excuses.
- 02Pick one habit you have avoided and shrink it until it takes under five minutes. Do it daily for two weeks before making it bigger.
